Foreign Trip | KOREA 2017
“I am a part of all that I have met.” – Lord Tennyson
Twenty-one Lazuardi GIS Junior High students flew to South Korea for an international study tour program. Under the theme Exploring Cultures, Respecting Diversity, they underwent a series of cultural activities, several of them were conducted at Gangwon School in Chungcheongnam, a special school for the blind.
At the school, Lazuardians learnt about Korean traditional musical instruments, how to make rice cake, experienced tea ceremony and dressed in hanbok, Korean traditional costume. For their Gangwon School counterparts, our students performed Indonesia Pusaka choir and Saman dance. In this wonderful opportunity the two schools agreed to maintain the good relation and cooperation.
Meanwhile, Lazuardi GIS Junior High teacher Ms. Maria Rahmawati has been joining teacher exchange program at Samcheonpo Jugang Girls Middle School, Korea, for three months. Ms. Maria acquired this tremendous opportunity after competing with applicants from the whole country. It is a great momentum for Lazuardi GIS Junior High School after it has played its part hosting two Korean teachers few months back.
Ms. Maria is teaching Indonesian culture and also serving as a special education teacher at Samcheonpo Jugang Girls Middle School. Among other activities and events, she attended UNESCO’s Global Citizenship Conference, in which she gained perspectives about the world’s cultures and diversity.
